Thermal Battery
Steinbeis-Transferzentrum Wärmespeicherung
The thermal battery makes it possible to store and transport surplus heat in an alternative energy form. Calcium oxide obtained through the calcination of limestone is used as a carrier material. The energy storage takes place in the form of a reversible, heat-induced chemical reaction. The process enables efficient long-term storage and high energy density, with low environmental impact and costs. The replacement of fossil energy sources reduces emissions of CO2, nitrogen oxide and fine particulates.
