The project plant b is developing promising and sustainable alternatives for the manufacture of digitally designed structures. A 3D-printed crystalline cellulosic physical structure has already been developed within the framework of the research. This is hardened through the application of a growing organism (wheatgrass and mycelium) and a variety of waxes (stearin and beeswax). The resulting composite can be returned to the production process and is biodegradable.
