LifeCycle Tower

The interdisciplinary research project LifeCycle Tower has been developed as an alternative to conventional structural systems in building engineering. Compared with conventional systems, the flexible and globally applicable timber hybrid construction system for large-scale buildings offers a variety of benefits for the environment, developers and users: a halving of resource use, high energy efficiency and up to 90% savings in CO2. Following dismantling, the life cycle-oriented design and the utilisation of unmixed materials enables straightforward conversion and reuse. The regional production of system elements reduces transport volume and CO2 emissions.

»The LifeCycle Tower is a design- and construction method for buildings of up to 30 storeys. To the greatest extent possible, the timber-hybrid construction system of predominantly sustainable wood materials is industrially prefabricated. Concrete is used only partially.
