Integrated Urban Morphologies

In recent decades there has been an increase in energy and climate requirements for buildings. Early in the design process, the Integrated Urban Morphologies design program utilises computer-based form generation techniques to model these complex requirements. This enables the planning of buildings that use their shape to respond intelligently to their energetic and climatic conditions. The subsequent algorithm enables the definition of design parameters such as plot area, maximum height and desired number of utilisation units (e.g. apartments or offices), and for the automatic generation of design variations.

»The project comprises a design program that enables the determination of the best possible arrangement, form, orientation, structure and infrastructure for the building as a function of the climatic conditions and location of a plot of land. This reduces the need for energy and resources in the construction phase as well as in the subsequent operation of the building. It’s a fantastic tool!«
