Cho‘jac
Thomas Kilian Bruderer
The Cho’jac backpack is a reinterpretation of traditional Mexican wickerwork. It consists of sustainable sisal derived from the Agave cactus, vegetable tanned leather as well as linen from flax that is cultivated in Europe. The backpack is handcrafted in small manufactories in the region of Berlin. All components are highly durable and either repairable or replaceable. The metal rivets can be unscrewed and reused. A share of the proceeds will be used to provide free, low-threshold classes for the local population in the Chiapas region of Mexico, with the aim of revitalising the wickerwork tradition and preserving this unique cultural technique.
