The IBA Thüringen model project shows how regional value chains can be implemented in glue-free timber construction. The boathouse from the 1950s was extended with two wing buildings in an elevated timber-frame structure made of solid structural timber, resting on 84 larch wood piles. The construction timber comes from surrounding forests, processed by regional companies. The project deliberately forgoes glued timber and panel materials, thereby specifically strengthening regional timber construction businesses.
